Become a Host Site-

Family Promise is a National Organization with an 88% success rate helping homeless children and their families find housing. With homelessness becoming a growing problem in Riverside, Family Promise of Riverside is hoping that YOU might be able to partner with us by becoming a Host Site. If you have space available 1 week at a time, 4 times a year, YOU can become a Host Site.

VOLUNTEERS CHANGE LIVES

Family Promise’s program relies on a partnership of volunteer groups and interfaith congregations. For families in the program, each day begins with breakfast at a Host Site with volunteers, followed by a bus ride to our day center. At the day center children catch the bus to school, and adults often shower and then go to work or meet with our Case Manager and Executive Director to find jobs, look for housing and connect to wrap around services. In the evening, guests return to the host site, where volunteers provide dinner and engage with families. The evening hours are for homework, and connecting as a family. Each day ends with the family all together, under one roof.

HOST SITES SERVE

Local organizations and houses of worship provide temporary overnight lodging in otherwise unused spaces in their buildings. A Host Site team of volunteers may be involved with the following :

Cooking and hosting dinner

Spending the evening with families, talking, tutoring kids or playing games

Sleeping overnight at the Host Site

Coordinating children’s crafts & activities

Donating necessary supplies for the hosting week

Setting up and breaking down guest families’ rooms

(Family Promise can provide volunteers for Host Sites with limited volunteers)

Families stay overnight, not 24 hours a day, typically 6pm to 6am

Each site hosts families for just one week, four times a year

Guests consist of only two to five families (14 children & adults max)

Family Promise runs criminal background checks and drug screenings on all program participants

A Family Promise driver transports the families to and from the host facility and carries their bedding and luggage to each new host location
